Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-08

Recipe Book ("the app") is a personal recipe manager. This policy explains what data the app collects, where it's stored, who can access it, and how to delete it.

What we collect

Data Purpose Source
Email address Account creation and sign-in You (via Google sign-in or email signup)
Display name and profile photo Showing your identity in the app Your Google account (only if you sign in with Google)

We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, browsing history, or any data beyond what is listed above.

Where it's stored

Who can access it

Only you. Firebase security rules restrict every read and write to the authenticated owner of the data. We do not look at, sell, or share your recipes or personal information with anyone.

Third-party processing

A few external services may receive limited data — AI services only when you actively invoke a feature, and an image proxy when a recipe's photo cannot load directly. Each receives only the minimum needed for that action.

Firebase Realtime Database, Firebase Storage, and Firebase Authentication are also operated by Google. Their use is governed by Firebase's privacy and security documentation.

Payments and donations

Recipe Book does not process payments itself and never sees or stores your card or bank details. If you choose to support the app, the Support on Ko-fi link opens Ko-fi in a new tab, where any contribution is handled entirely by Ko-fi under Ko-fi's own terms and privacy policy. We receive only the information Ko-fi shows a creator about a contribution (such as a supporter name and message) — never your payment credentials.

If paid features are offered in the future, payment will likewise be handled by a third-party payment processor. The app will receive only confirmation of your purchase or subscription status — enough to unlock the features you paid for — not your payment details. This policy will be updated to name that processor before any such feature goes live.

International data transfers

Recipe Book relies on Google Firebase, whose servers may be located in the United States or other countries outside where you live. When you use the app, the data described above may be transferred to and processed in those countries, which may have different data-protection laws than your own. Google maintains safeguards for these transfers as described in its privacy documentation.

Legal basis for processing

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your data on these bases: to provide the service you requested (storing and syncing your recipes, signing you in) — performance of a contract; with your consent, which you give by choosing to import a recipe, generate an image, or support the app; and our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and within reasonable usage limits. You can withdraw consent at any time by not using the relevant feature or by deleting your account.

Data retention

We keep your recipes, images, settings, and account record for as long as your account exists, so the app works across your devices. When you delete your account (see below), all of it is permanently removed from Firebase. Data sent to the AI and image-proxy services above is processed transiently and is not retained by us. The copy cached on your device is cleared when you sign out or uninstall the app.

Your rights

You control your data and can exercise the following rights at any time:

We do not sell your personal information, and we never share it for advertising or marketing. To make a request or ask a question about your data, contact us at the address below. EEA/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.

Children

Recipe Book is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the app. Full instructions and an email fallback are at /account-deletion.html.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in-app before they take effect.
